Will more and more content be charged for in the future?
Question asked by: mrquestion

Yes, it does indeed seem likely that in the future there will be a move back to charging for content.
This makes sense because everywhere else we pay for information: a book, a newspaper, a magazine.
No magazine gives itself away for free and pays for itself just on advertising, that does not happen. So why should things be different online?
Well, apparently companies thought it would be different and so are just waking up to the fact that the old models that worked best offline may be the best online too!
