If you think clearly and logically then you can solve this question. We know that whatever the speed of the mercedes is, the jag is 1.2x quicker.
In other words, Jaguar = 1.2x
We also know the difference between the 2 is 24km/h. This tells us 1.2x - x = 24km/h, or 0.2x = 24km/h.
Therefore speed of mercedes is 120km/h and therefore jaguar is 144km/h.
