Word Problem

a jaguar travelled 1.2 times as fast as a mercedes. The difference in their speeds was 24 km/h. find the speed of each car.

If you think clearly and logically then you can solve this question. We know that whatever the speed of the mercedes is, the jag is 1.2x quicker.

In other words, Jaguar = 1.2x

We also know the difference between the 2 is 24km/h. This tells us 1.2x - x = 24km/h, or 0.2x = 24km/h.

Therefore speed of mercedes is 120km/h and therefore jaguar is 144km/h.
