I forget things easily no matter how hard I try to remember, how can I make my memory work better?

Remembering information is difficult for most people.

And it's the same for adults and children, and often you will hear it said 'sorry I'm just no good at remembering things'.

But what you really need is a better technique.

One really simple thing but effective with lots of information is to create little sentences that are memorable to you and help you remember stuff.

Lots of school things are new and hard to learn - they are abstract and don't relate to the real world. Use these sentences to help you learn them.

For instance with the colours of the rainbow they are red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigio, violet

To remember these alone is hard so create a rhyme to help you like Richard of York gave battle in vain.

Another tip is to look at the first letter of each part and see if this is memorable in any way.

For instance on the periodic table in chemistry it is often asked which are the periods and which are the groups, and it can be really hard to remember.

The Horizontal ones are Periods and the Vertical ones Groups - look at the first letters: HP which makes most people think of HP sauce. So just think of HP sauce when it comes to studying the periodic table and you will instantly be able to remember which are the periods and which the groups.

There are lots of ways you can apply this sort of thinking to help you learn information, and spending the time working out a clever way to learn something in itself will make it a lot more memorable for you.
