I get hardly any pocket money my friend gets loads more why are my parents mean?

If you get very little pocket money compared to friends it can be frustrating.

There can be nothing more annoying and seemingly unfair when we get very little and our friends get a lot.

The same thing can happen with Christmas presents where friends get the latest consoles and other gifts whilst you just get, say, a pair of socks.

However remember a possible cause is simply that money is tighter in your family than in others and so your parents need to watch what you get.

If you get pocket money at all you are lucky in the sense that there are lots of kids out there who get no pocket money on a regular basis at all!

And also remember that you have no absolute right to get pocket money.

You could try having a quiet word with your parents and explaining you would like a little more, or perhaps barter for doing odd jobs like washing up, washing the car and so on in exchange for getting paid.

In this way you may be able to earn a little extra cash and at the same time help your parents with those little chores around the house!
