How important are your eyes?
You know that your eyes help you to get by in day-to-day activities, but do you know that your eyes are for more than just seeing?

Vision
Our ability to see. What would a world without vision be?

Colour vision
Our ability to see colour. What would a world without colour be?

Visual field
The visual field is the entire area that can be seen when our eyes are directed straight ahead, including both central and peripheral vision.

3D vision
Our ability to see depth, to assess distances (eg. to tell near and far away objects) and to shoot a ball into the basket. What gives you stereo or 3D vision? Having two eyes that work well together.

Activities
Don't believe you need two eyes for 3D vision?
Try bouncing a ball off a wall and catch it, notice how easy or hard that is, and now try catching it with one eye closed. Not so easy, right?

Your eyes also help you keep your balance.
Find an open area, stand on one leg and see how long you can balance. Now try again but this time close your eyes. Is it easier or harder?

Seeing is such a natural part of our lives, some of us take it for granted. It's your responsibility to take care of your eyes.
