Christmas - love it or hate it, it comes around every year. And whilst the real meaning of Christmas gets diluted more and more by the shops each year, it means that the pressure to get that extra special gift increases each year.

And each year in the West at least it seems we spend more money each and every Christmas sourcing and getting those perfect Christmas presents.

The problem is that it can take forever to think of good Christmas present ideas - what is it that those loved ones in our lives would really like, and how do we get gift ideas for what to get someone who is awkward to buy for, either because they have everything they want, or because we know they have high standards and say if they don't like something rather than nodding appreciatively then putting it to the back of the cupboard!

Is it best to get gifts earlier in the year whilst they are cheaper, or will you seem like a cheapskate for doing so?

You should not look like a cheapskate for buying earlier in the year - it is just sensible planning. Since the thought is what counts buying even earlier in the year shows that you have put real thought and planning in, and the same gift at a cheaper price makes it a bargain not the actions of a cheapskate!
