Confidence comes from within...

Are you a confident person? If you are, then you're one of the lucky ones... there are many people who go through life who shy away from what they really want and end up frustrated through lack of confidence.

Symptoms of being low in confidence include:

- issues with your body and look
- not feeling comfortable in yourself
- wishing you were someone else
- not doing things you want to do through lack of confidence
- not speaking your mind when you want to
- wishing after the event you had done something different
- being very aware of peer pressure and what others think of you
- not being comfortable going out without make-up on (girls)

If you are suffering from low confidence, what can you do?

Well the best advice is to stop comparing yourself to others. Normally lack of confidence comes through comparing ourselves to others and putting ourselves down, thinking that others are better. It also comes from peer pressure and feeling that we need to conform to some sort of social norm.

If this is you, then try just thinking about yourself and not worrying about other things and other people so much.

Focus on yourself and loving yourself. Look yourself in the eye in the mirror and remind yourself how special you are and how you deserve to feel great everyday. If others put you down or make comments then just rise above it - jealousy is a terrible thing.

Try reading a self help book designed to help bolster your confidence, these contain some useful hints and tips and methods that can help you gain and grow in confidence so that before long that meek and shy self from the past will be a distant memory.

Questions Stephanie has Answered:

In school, our class is doing this project, and one of my friends is in another group. Now, she keeps stealing my group's ideas and it looks like because of this crappy project, we might not be friends anymore. what do I do?

You need to be confident enough, even though she is a friend, to tell her that what she is doing is both wrong and a bit annoying and awkward for you. There is no need to have a row, just be polite but firm when you tell her and if she gets the message then great, if not then consider she might not be the sort of friend you want to have after all.
