How to avoid succumbing to a cold

The holidays are upon us and that means that cold and flu season won’t be far behind. Isn’t it funny how everyone gets sick right after our season of decadence, over-indulgence, stress, alcohol, travel and sugar feasting?
The best way to avoid succumbing to this year’s cold and flu season is to start treating your body right – right now!

* Sleep: get enough to recharge your batteries and allow for real relaxation.

* Whole Nutrition: focus on whole, seasonal, organic foods that will support your body and immune system.

* Move: regular exercise will keep your immune system in fighting mode and will help you deal with seasonal stress from travel, work and family obligations.

* Chill Out: make use of some easy, calming relaxation techniques that can help you to manage your stress, like a hot bath, massage, shoulder rub from someone who loves you, tea and quiet time, reading or walking in the sun.

I think an important thing to do to get rid of a cold quicker when you actually have one, is be happy, if you get all depressed and fed-up it will affect you even worse, but if you are still happy, and don't let the cold get you down, it usually clears up quicker and it doesn't seem as bad.

Another important thing I read is eating chocolate! When you eat chocolate it actually relases a 'happy' hormone, which helps you to fight colds.
