First you have to work out the vat and add it to the cost of the book. ( this Is how I work out half a percent. It's an odd way but has always worked for me.) first do 10% , then divide it 10 to get 1%. then half it to get half a percent. For 2% do 20% divide by 10 like before. And obv. 5% is 10 percent halved. Then add your 10 , 5, n 2 percent to the original 7.60. Then with the multiplying by 1650 you can just use a calculator. Hope this helped.

Yes that's the right way to work out 17.5% vat. Or you can just multiply by 1.175 to work out the total amount with VAT.

So 7.6 x 1.175 x 1650 = the total income

Actually the question is worded a bit ambiguously... is it saying that the book includes the VAT and therefore you have to take off 17.5% from the total figure in order to work out what he actually receives...

30% = 60
100% = (60/30)*100 = 200. Therefore, 200 children altogether attend the school.
