Tescos own fabric freshener is better than fabreeze. But i would probably get it dry cleaned first

Cover the whole rug with bicarb soda and leave for a few days. Vacumm then shake any excess out. If odour is not eliminated,launder the rug in washing machine using a small amount of a high quality wool detergent and about 2 tablesppons of bicarb soda. Add half a cup or more of white vinegar to rinsing water. Allow the rug to dry naturally, give it a bit of a brush when dry and that's it!
