What is a condensation reaction and what is a hydrolsis reaction

A condensation reaction is one in which two molecules that were separate combine, and in the process a smaller molecule is released. Hence the term condensation.

Hydrolysis is where something is split in water, so for instance when certain polymers are broken down by the constituent parts of water reacting with it this is an example of a hydrolysis reaction.
