Where did the spanish language come from?
As such it is called a romantic language.
However it also has many other origins and things that have fed into it, as is the way with many languages it evolves and flows over time so there is no absolute knowledge of its roots but mainly its large influences.
No doubt interplay with French and some influences from other lands that Spain explored and conquered also came into effect the language, but by far the biggest and most profound influence was Latin.
Indeed if you have a good understanding of Latin, you will be able to guess at the meanings of a lot of Spanish words and even understand some full sentences, such is the strength of the correlation between the two languages.
