Who invented the seed drill?

A classic history GCSE question.

The answer is that the seed drill was invented by a certain Jethro Tull - think of the band name!

It was invented in the year 1701 it is generally thought, and was important as it allowed farmers to sow at a specific depth and in well spaced out rows.
