Excellent places to advertise are local shops, supermarkets and the local paper - and often the charges for these are free or even non-existent! Also give out your business card whenever you can and if you can get friends and family as clients, so much the better. It may also be worth having a small website that is advertised on your business card so people can find out more about your business that you could not fit on the card.
