8h - Exam Technique - Read The Question
Education : How To Excel In Exams Part III A key piece of advice, although obvious, is to read the question. This is so important, as if you do not answer the question, however eloquent the answer you give, there will be no marks available. If the question asks WHY something happens then say WHY; giving an essay on WHAT happens will earn no marks. If the question in Maths asks you to give, for instance, the sine of x, then give the sine of x, not the actual size of the angle in degrees. Or a more commonplace example, if you are asked to give an answer to three significant figures, then give it in this form and no other. Always read the question and do what it says.
