9d - Be Specific, Use Examples Where Possible
Education : How To Excel In Exams Part III You should think about what you have been taught during the course and thus should have a good idea of the sort of answer/response needed. Think how what you have learnt applies to the question, and apply it as specifically as possible. If you are asked to give a summary and point out key features of the first act of Macbeth, then do not just tell the story of what happens, however accurately. This will not earn many points. Be specific; talk about the key points of the act and what they portray. Give a few quotes if you can, and talk about the imagery/similes/metaphors/elements of the plot that are mentioned, and how some of the key themes start to be developed, and how it all ties together.
