How To Accept Credit Card Payments Online

Business : ECommerce

If you are looking to accept credit card payments on your website, then it can be very confusing to choose a provider.

Largely, the solution for you depends on the volume of payments you wish to take, and how professional you wish your site to look.

If you are a small business, looking to process modest payments, then the simplest and quickest to set up would probably be a Paypal business account, at www.paypal.com

However, if you wish for something more professional, and will take more online payments, the following is also easy to set up and popular as a payment provider:
www.worldpay.com

If you are going to be taking larger numbers of payments, or want the most professional looking eCommerce function, you will probably need to combine three elements:
- shopping cart software
- secure online payment processor
- relationship with a clearing bank to process payments (merchant account)

Therein there are many combinations beyond the scope of this article, however one possible combination would be to use:
bazaarbuilder (for shopping cart - www.bazaarbuilder.com)
protx for secure processing (www.protx.com)
BMS - barclaycard merchant services for your merchant account - www.barclaycardmerchantservices.com
