How To Acheive A Lasting Natural Tan

Beauty : Tanning

Forget everything you've been told about staying out of the sun during the peak hours. If your reading this article then your obviously after a good natural tan, therefor, embrace the sun!

Make sure you use sun cream and apply often, especially to face (particularly forhehad, cheeks and nose) and shoulders.

Start by using at least a factor 20 on your sensitive areas and factor 15 on the rest of your body, once you've built up a base tan you can decrease the amount and frequency of application to increase your tan. Go inside often to check that your not burning, if you are then apply higher factor suncream to these areas religiously and keep tanning!

After a days tanning make sure you have a shower (not a bath as this could case fading and undo all your hard work) and moisturise generously afterwards. Do this everyday and it will sort of 'set' your tan and prepare your skin for the following day.

You can gradually decrease sun protection and start using oil as you feel fit once you've built up a base. Try and use an oil with at least factor 8 as this will prevent burning but not tanning. If your really naughty, pure baby oil gives a really deep colour!

Above all remember not to burn and take it slow. If you burn on the first day you will not be able to tan for a few days and it will more likely than not be very painful and will peel - not good! Remember to turn lots and if you get too hot water in a spray bottle is very good. Remember not to tan whilst lying on a lilo in a swimming pool or in the sea and try not to swim for long periods of time without adaquate waterproof protection - this is because the water acts as a reflector for the sun which means you will burn very quickly.

Thanks for reading and happy tanning!
