If you have had a long period of exercise, you need to take care of your body afterwards.

You should be sure to drink at least 8 glasses of water a day, to ensure that your body is hydrated.

Also, avoid strenuous activity the following day.

Have a short walk - perhaps 15 minutes - just to increase circulation and stop stiffening.
