There are many things that you can do to aid and hinder digestion after eating.

One thing that many find helpful is to go for a slow and gentle walk: nothing too strenuous or quick, which can have the opposite effect and unsettle the stomach.

If you are sedentary, make sure that you sit absolutely upright to help the body digest food too - never recline or lie down, the Romans had the wrong idea and that's why they needed a room called the vomitorium (seriously).

Another tip that many use is to have something soothing after the meal, for instance a polo mint or two - many people find this and the reassuring minty smell can really help the stomach with digestion.
