How To Analyse An Underperforming Team Member
Business : Running Your Business As much as you'd like to think otherwise, unless you are very lucky, at some stage as a business owner you will need to deal with an employee who is underperforming against their ability and your expectations of them. In order to resolve the poor performance, you first need to understand what the MOTIVATING FACTORS are for the poor performance. A bit like a doctor must diagnose an illness in order to find the right treatment. Here are some possible triggers for poor performance at work, and you should sit down with the employee and establish what the problem is - let them do the talking if possible - and only once diagnosed try to resolve the problem. - Family or health problems (concerns outside work) - Feel restricted or bored in current role - Someone else got promoted over them - Bad relations with a boss - Does not feel bought into the company values and ethos - A problem with the working environment - Personal health problems
