How To Apply Fake Tan
|Beauty : Cosmetics|
Fake Tan TechniqueBefore you start the fake tanning application process, find a self tanning cream or mousse that works best for you - try it on a part of your body no one will see, so that you can see how the colour comes up. Once you have chosen one to use on your whole body, make sure you exfoliate before you begin, using a loofah or some kind of body scrub. This will make the colour go on much smoother and more naturally. Dry your skin thoroughly afterwards and decide where you are going to apply the tanner. You might want to apply some moisturiser to areas where the skin is a bit tougher than the rest of your body, like knees and elbows. This skin can look funny when tanning cream is applied so the moisturiser should give you a more even look.
Make fake tan look naturalSometime it helps to start from your feet and work up, as this way you don't get lines and streaks on your upper body when you bend over. Apply the cream in even, circular motions. You could try wearing rubber gloves, this is supposed to make application smoother and also protects your hands from staining. Don't overdo it on areas like knees and elbows and when you apply it to your face, watch you don't overdo your neck in comparison. If you want cream applied to your back you will need assistance.
Once you have applied it you should wash your hands immediately to stop staining, and take care to wash your nails, cuticles and in between your fingers as cream tends to gather here. You have to let the tanning cream dry for at l least half an hour, so don't put clothes on or you will stain them and cause patches to develop on your skin. The only thing to do is sit on an old towel in a room where you have some privacy so that you are not moving around a lot. A good time of the day to apply self tanning lotion is before you go to bed, so that you don't stain your clothes, but remember to put old towels on the sheets so that you don't stain them either.
Preserve the fake tanYou will need to reapply the cream every few days or as you see necessary.

How do I remove streaky St Tropez from my legs?
If you want to get rid of streaky tan, Nail Varnish Remover can help. Put a little amount on to a tissue or cotton ball and rub where necessary!
St Tropez now makes fake tan remover.
When using St Tropez lotion, I use a make up sponge to do my hands with. Also bend your fingers to get in between your knuckles to prevent any tell tale white lines. Using a sponge gives an even coverage with no harsh lines and no stained palms!
To remove my fake tan I used Immac and a razor. It worked pretty well and after this I used a body scrub cream and it removed nearly all the tan. :).
Use Jolen creme bleach. It's meant to be used to lighten facial hair, but it removes fake tan perfectly. I had tried all the other suggestions - Immac, washing up liquid, toner and none of them worked so I was delighted when this did. .
A good way of blending the fake tan into your hands and feet is to put a small amount onto cotton wool and rub in evenly. It does work!.
I fake tan every day as I feel that is the only way the colour stays. None of my friends and even boyfriend know I do this so it looks completely natural. However I do worry that my skin might dry out or cause premature ageing because of the chemicals? I mosturise my face every day but not my body. What are the effects of fake tanning so often?
To avoid streaking, make sure to exfoliate plenty! i usually use a salt scrub or a loofah..
The fastest way to remove your fake tan is by waxing! It works because waxing does rip off the first few layers of dead skin cells, making it an effective exfoliation! Even if you have no hair, get out the wax, spread it on your skin and strip it off!
I find JOHNSONS self-tan the best of them all!
My friend swears by false tan mits which you can buy from leading chemists etc, I myself exfoliate in the shower with a good quality scrub and those exfoliating gloves (they're also sold in chemists about 99p a pair). They really do make you feel fresh and clean - then I moisturise it doesn't need to be expensive stuff, vaseline intensive care is quite good. Then I apply the tan with a pair of latex gloves, taking care around elbows, knees and ankles. Some experts reckon you shouldn't apply false tan on the same day you've shaved but I do coz who wants to put false tan on when you've got spiky legs. I try to do it in front of a mirror so I can see what I'm doing. Also if you don't have someone to apply your back you can get an applicator on a stick for that purpose. I reccomend Loreal Sublime - the bronzing one I've used it for years and wouldn't change it for anything.
For me the best fake tan is 'bronze' from avon . It looks totaly natural, isnt streaky if you apply it in circular motions and does'nt smell
