How To Apply Red Lipstick

Beauty : Cosmetics

A bright shade of red lipstick can look really good for a night out, but you have to know how to apply it properly for maximum effect. However, you also have to be sure that red is the colour for you before you begin! Remember that if you have thin lips, red will not help make them look fuller but just enhance the thinness, while if your lips are too full, you can minimise them a bit by using a more browny shade. But if you are unsure then ask for advice at a cosmetics counter, the assistant there will be able to find you the correct shade that matches your colouring and the shape of your mouth.

First of all, apply a very light layer of foundation to your lips and leave to dry for a couple of seconds, then dust a layer of face power on top of that. To stop your lipstick from bleeding, outline your lips with a pencil but make sure it is a matching shade of red or else it will just look silly. When you line your lips, keep within the natural lines as well, don't try to go outside them, you won't make your lips look bigger, but will just have the effect of clown makeup!

The best way to apply lipstick is not straight out of the tube but by using a lip brush. Apply it to the centre of your lips first and then use the brush to spread the colour out towards the edges of your lips. Blot your lips with a tissue to remove any excess, then apply another layer of lipstick with the brush. Doing so should help to make the lipstick last a long time.
