Autograph Collecting Tips
| Hobbies : Autographs Write to say 'thanks'. How many people when they get what they want (the autograph), bother writing back to the celebrity, or e-mailing them, to say 'thanks'? If you do, then you are in the minority. It takes minimal effort, and with this you can afford to have a standard 'thankyou' letter which you send out, just changing it a bit: if they answer a question you ask or something like that, you can mention how interested you were in their reply. This leaves a nice taste in their mouths, and should you ever write to them again, they may well be more co-operative. However, it is simply good manners and good practice to get into writing to say thanks: and, whilst it shouldn't be done specifically to receive something else, sometimes you do get further replies again. But whether you do or don't, it has cost you minimal effort and has impressed the celebrity whose autograph you have successfully received. By the way, you could do more, depending on the circumstances: if you hear they get an illness at some stage, or something like this, then you could always send them flowers; however, this is costly and an unlikely situation to occur, but it serves to illustrate the point: there is no rule (as some think!), that the only thing fans can send is a plain old envelope....it's not the case. Of course, by the same measure, what is inside the envelope doesn't have to be just a letter, with their photo or not (depending on what method you use); you can include other things as well; perhaps a photograph of yourself or whatever you like!
