Avoid Being A Victim Of Identity Theft

Money : Back To Basics

Shred all your documents that show your name and address or other confidential details, such as bank statements, letters from your doctor, utility bills and so on. Receipts should be shredded too if possible.

Don’t let your cards out of your sight, for example when paying in a shop or restaurant, as they may be cloned or the details taken from the back.

Hide your PIN when using an ATM machine or card reader in store.

Don’t carry too much money or all your cards around with you in your purse or wallet. Just take what you need for that day and keep some in your bag or a safe pocket as well in case your purse gets stolen. Make sure your address isn’t in your wallet either. Register your Oyster Card so that if it gets stolen you can claim a refund and get it replaced for free.

Don’t publish too many personal details on Facebook or other online sites, or say that you’re on holiday as this can be viewed by a lot of people.

Make sure you get your post redirected if you move home.
