How To Avoid Burnout On The Climb Up The Ladder

Career : Career Development

If you are ambitious and want to get on, it is natural to work longer hours to show the boss you are committed. BUT this can have the opposite affect - you can get lethargic and burnt out and underperform.

If you spot these symptoms, it's time to change:

- leave at a sensible time
- take a lunch break
- avoid bringing work home
- relax totally at the weekend and get away from work
- do not go out drinking late on a work night
- take a HOLIDAY

Remember - the truly outstanding employee is not he or she that works the longest, but makes the most of the time they do work. You can work normal hours and still make a fantastic contribution!
