Banking Online Safely

Computing : Online Security

When you use online banking, there is no reason to think that you are not safe. The banks have gone out their way in the main to make their processes secure.

Always ensure that you log in through pages with a secure padlock and that they have a digital encryption certificate, and check the level of encryption, it should be 128-bit at least.

Remember that the main risk comes from so called phishing sites, or clones set up to get your details by people who are disingenuous.

Therefore the main security tip is to ensure that you are actually on the proper site for a bank or financial institution.

If in doubt check your statement from them to get the address or search google for that bank or institution and follow the direct link. Once you are actually on their site, you should be secure.
