How To Be A Good Shot Putter

Sport : Athletics

The single biggest misconception about the shot put is that you need to have really developed and big arms to be a great shot putter.

The actual truth is that the majority of the power that is put into the shot put comes from the legs not the arms!

Therefore knowing this you can get an instance win on your competition by really focussing on leg training when you are developing your shot putting.

The reason for this is simple enough - the muscles in the legs are much larger and therefore stronger than either the biceps or the triceps are, and this means that they are able to put more power into your throw.

Of course you need strong arm muscles too, but just working on these to the exclusion of the others will lead to frustration, no matter how big your arms muscles end up.

Remember you should always look for ways to train smarter, and not necessarily harder.
