Well large companies are naturally very hierarchical no matter what you hear about flat structures. Therefore, try to act like you are important and people will think you are. Think of it like this have you ever been to a meeting to see someone acting authoratitively and confident and then been surprised after the meeting to hear they are of low grade, relatively? Why are you surprised? Because if people act a part then we expect them naturally to be that part. Therefore if you mix with and act in a manner of a leader, then people will often think that you are, and the transition to that sort of role will be easier to make.
