| Media To get into the media world can be a hard and involved process. But there are things that you can do. Firstly, you should start at a young age - and build up a portfolio. Write little stories and your thoughts and feelings down often. Always think of being creative, and when you think of news stories, think of new ways of presenting them and writing a story around them. Try and do work experience at a local paper, and write for local magazines, or college ones if you are at university - this way you can steadily build up a reputation and contacts. When you get around to approaching companies, you will have a solid portfolio behind you, as well as being published in magazines and papers - so also enter journalism competitions. Be patient and determined and you will get there, so be prepared for some hard graft - it is notoriously difficult to get into this world!
