How To Bear Heat Exhaustion

Health And Fitness : Top Health Tips

WE ALL CARRY AROUND OUR OWN AIR ? CONDITIONER. THAT?S RIGHT !

Doc Says:

Most of the time it works like a charm.
All that pollution free liquid, evaporating from your skin. You all know it as sweat.
Cools your body without depleting the ozone layer one bit. The only trouble is, if you spend too much time in the sun, and not enough time drinking, to replace fluids lost by sweating. Then

HELLO HEAT EXHAUSTION.
Since dehydration is usually the cause, the first symptom of heat exhaustion, is extreme thirst. There are also other symptoms.
They include loss of appetite, headache, fatigue, dizziness, nausea, and vomiting. Another is if your heart races, and you have trouble concentrating ,after spending a long time outdoors in hot weather.
If you feel any of these symptoms, rest in a nice shady spot. Even better, get indoors.

Here are some tactics to help beat heat exhaustion:

Fill To The Brim With Fluids.
The key is to keep yourself hydrated.
So fill- er up before venturing out doors. Particularly if anything strenuous is on the agenda. I recommend drinking enough water to urine, prior to stepping out the door.
Then drink every 15 minutes, while outdoors. I carry a water bottle with me, and take frequent drinks.

Don?t Take That Shirt Off.
Going bare - chested will only make you more susceptible to the heat. You?ll just pick up more radiant heat exposure. Once you start to perspire, the shirt can act like a cooling device. The wind will just blow through.

Eat Your Fruits And Vegetables.
Well isn?t that what you tell your kids.
They help us in many ways. They Even replace the vitamins and minerals lost in sweat.

LEAVE THE SALT TABLETS ALONE.
Some people think heat exhaustion is due to, a lack of salt. These will not do your body any service. They will just do the opposite of what their suppose to do. The increased salt in the stomach keeps fluids there longer, which leaves less fluid available for necessary sweat production.

Weigh Yourself. Before going out the door, weigh in. Then weigh yourself again when you return. All of that lost weight is water loss.
So you need to put it back.
Remember one pound of lost weight, equals two glasses of water.

FORGET CELEBRATING SUMMER WITH BEER.
That beer may lead to one big case of heat exhaustion.
Beer can put heat exhaustion into fast forward ?Dehydration.?
Beer is also a diuretic. That means excessive urination. Instead drink water, fruit juices, or sports drinks.

Pedialyte is often given to the Texas Rangers in extremely hot weather. Gatorade is also good.

IF SOMEONE HAS TROUBLE WALKING, STANDING, ANSWERING QUESTIONS COHERENTLY, OR STAYING CONSCIOUS AFTER LONG HEAT EXPOSURE, GET THEM TO A DOC QUICKLY.
These are all symptoms of a heat stroke, a potentially fatal condition in which the kidney?s shut down and the body goes into shock.
Call immediately for emergency assistance.
If you have to wait for an ambulance, cool the person as quick as possible.
Splash cool water on him, or wrap him in soaked towels, move him to air ? conditioning, or immerse him in cool shallow water.

USE WHATEVER MEANS ARE POSSIBLE!
