How To Beat The Winter Blues

Get outdoors during daylight as much as possible as the light is much brighter outside than indoors, even when the sun isn’t out. If you have to stay instead, then sit next to a window, and try to avoid dark places. This should make you feel happier.

Get plenty of exercise as this is an anti depressant. 30 mins of vigorous work out three times a week is ideal.

Make sure your diet is balanced, and don’t try and skip meals. It’s a good idea to try and fit in as many different vitamins and nutrients as possible.

Light therapy increases your exposure to light during winter, as it uses a specially designed light box to compensate for the lack of sunlight. You can use it up to 4 hours daily.

If you are still suffering from Seasonal Affective Disorder, then you may want to try talking therapies to help change the way you feel and think, and in severe cases some anti depressant drugs can be prescribed. Talk it over with your doctor for the best option.
