Always feeling tired and run down? Then here are some tips to help you boost your energy levels throughout the day.

Eat little and often as this will help keep you awake - bananas are good as they are complex carbohydrates and release energy slowly as opposed to giving you a sudden boost and then a big drop in sugar levels. Make sure you eat lots of healthy foods, but an occasional treat is also fine.

Avoid coffee and alcohol. Lucozade is good for a quick fix energy boost but shouldnt be drunk everyday.

Get lots of sleep. This is really important. The recommended amount of shut-eye per night for adults is 8 hours. Make sure you go to bed at the same time and wake up at the same time every day as this will get you into a routine and you'll feel tired at the same time rather than having naps throughout the day and then staying up all night. Never sleep with the light on as this is bad for your body clock, and can also lead to headaches. It makes you feel like you havent slept at all.

Finally, wind down in the evening by reading a book or watching TV. Dont do anything stressful like work. Also, listening to music at night isnt always the best of ideas as the songs may stick in your head and you wont be able to get to sleep.
