| Sport : Cricket The first thing about the googly is to know what it is, as it's not the most common delivery out there! Basically the googly is the name given to a legspin ball that is released from the back of the hand. Therefore the result of this will be that the ball will actually spin the opposite way to the legspinner, and as such if not picked by the batsman can cause them big problems. The grip should be as for the orthodox leg spinner, but the difference is in the delivery. Try to use sparingly and get as much disguise on the delivery as you can. Only try the googly after you have mastered the standard legspinner - don't get ambitious too soon!
