How To Brush Your Dog
Pets : Dogs Many dog owners use a poor technique when brushing their dog. This is unfortunate, as not only can it mean less effective brushing, but it can also be uncomfortable for your pet - for instance if you use excessive pressure whilst brushing you might scratch or irritate their skin. Therefore you should try to angle the brush near the skin - not actually touching the skin but just above it. If you can feel the brush rubbing against the skin, you are too close and should pull back. Brush from head to tail - in other words, go with the grain of the coat, and not against the natural grain. Remember that the stomach and back may be particularly sensitive, to apply less pressure when brushing these areas of your dog.
