How To Build A Desk
DIY : Building If you are building a desk, then the hardest part is actually working out the right height at which to build and put the desk. The desk itself can simply be a thickish piece of wood held in place against the wall with a couple of brackets and maybe a piece of wood in the middle for support. The problem is that when you make the mark on the wall for the height the desk should be at, it will probably look really low! Therefore here are the useful measurements you should use when creating a desk: In general the seat should be about 19" high, and hence the desk should be at around 27 - 28" up from the floor. Therefore even if that looks too low for you, have confidence that it is actually the right height for most people. In fact if the desk is going to be a computer desk with the main activity being typing, you can consider loweing this a couple of inches as the hands will be touching the 'bottom' of the desk surface all the time (tapping the keys on the keyboard!)
