How To Build Relationships At Parties!

Relationships : Dating Advice

Usual scenario. Office party coming up. People will drink, people will have fun, but perhaps you don't really look forward to parties? Don't tend to have a lot of fun yourself at them and consequently don't really get invited to them?

Well you can change this by having fun things to say and do at parties. Stock yourself with some jokes - they don't even have to be good, the groan factor can be large. You probably hear jokes all the time but forget them - well learn the good ones, ask your friends for good jokes, look in the magazines you read and so on for them. Then use them in a social situation - everyone loves someone who can make them laugh.

Ever stuck for games to play at a party? Well try these simple ones:

(1) As the guests arrive at your party, pin a name on their back - that of someone famous, either in keeping with the theme of the party if it is a themed party, or simply that of anyone famous. Then as that person goes round, they are allowed to ask each person three questions about themselves, to which the answer must be 'yes' or 'no'. This is an excellent way to break the ice, have fun and get people who don't necessarily know each other talking to each other. Great!

(2) How about this one: playing cards? Poker getting dull? Then play a game of cheat. Essentially here each player has around ten cards, and must go out first to win. The first player should put cards face down on the table and declare - say two threes. The next player must beat this - perhaps two fours and so on. At any time he can be challenged by the person next to him calling him a 'cheat'.

If he has indeed been lying about what he played then he has to pick up all the cards, and if not the person who accused has to pick up all the cards on the table. Quite an entertaining game, especially after a few drinks when people find it a little harder to hide their thoughts and true position!

(3) What am I? Not a reference to Going for Gold and the distinctive tones of Henry Kelly, but another game that you might have seen featured on TV shows from time to time -why? because it can be very amusing!

Send a guest out of the room. In the meantime, asign a pastime or hobby or job to each person in the room. They can be simple as you like - a dentist. But to make it more fun make them truely whacky - someone who is terrified of people who ask questions, or someone who thinks they're a camel.

Then when the person comes back in, the others have to act out their imagined situation, and great fun can be had by all watching the ridiculous acting from the one and the bizarre guesses that the other comes up with!
