Virtually all puppies like nothing more than to chew and test out the strength of their teeth into the bargain. Therefore be prepared to have lots of toys that they can chew - this should in itself save the furniture and other low level objects from having strange gnaw marks in them! An obvious tip but one that many don't follow is to buy toys that are designed for dogs, not people - they will respond better to their much rougher treatment in terms of chewing! Consider some noise making toys too - e.g. squeakers - which also amuse many a puppy for a long time! Finally ensure that there are no choking hazards by having toys of a sufficient size that your pet won't try to swallow them.
