How To Buy Old Properties Overseas

Money : Overseas Property

If you are buying an old property overseas, then it will pay in the long run to get the best survey done that you can.

Also ensure that there is electricity and water and of course sewage facilities in situ - or that if they are not you are prepared to live with this or do something about it (tip: infinitely less hassle to get these basic services in place before buying overseas unless you are fluent in the language and familiar with the customs and culture of that country!)

Remember that renovation projects might be one thing with a house up the motorway at home where you can go over as a hobby, but abroad it is quite another thing.

As a rule of thumb, you should only be prepared to do about 10% of the renovation work to an overseas property that you would be prepared to do to a property in your home country.
