How To Care For Hair Extensions

Beauty : Haircare

Caring for hair extensions is a little different to caring for your normal hair. You have to follow the after care tips from your salon very carefully, otherwise they will not last as long as they should, which is rather a waste of time and money. Remember too that you can have extensions curled and highlighted and so on, but this must be done professionally and is not really something you should try on your own at home.

Hair extensions should not be more than twice the length of your normal hair. Never go to bed with them wet, but always tie your hair up when sleeping, this will help prevent tangling and other such problems. Run your fingers through the braids to get rid of tangles, doing so regularly will help prevent them too. Don't brush harshly and tug at the extensions, as this can loosen and damage the bonds which hold them to your scalp. When you brush, use a brush with soft bristles and work your way up from the bottom to the top, using the brush gently.

It is best not to spray the extensions with sillicone based products as they can cause the braids to slip out of place.

More hair advice

I have been using extensions for over a year now. They are kind of hard to take care of. so make sure you condition the ends often and brush your hair gently. pull your hair up in a loose pony tail at nights so you wont wake up with tangling hair. avoid having tight pony tails or styles that pull your hair. Because of the weight of the extensions, your roots get very fragile. and stay away from silicone based products!

Ok well firstly i dont recommend hair extensions unless you can really afford to maintain it. Ive previously had hair extentsions and its really ruined my hair. If you are going to get them...a few tips, make sure you brush your hair everyday, condition only the ends, when going to bed tie hair up in a plait to avoid knots. Also another thing i learned if you want maximum use out of them dont blow dry them, only straighten.
