How To Chase Money You Are Owed

Business : Invoicing And Managing Finances

As a small business, it's been noted that chasing payment from a difficult payer is one of the hardest things to do.

If the standard email and phone call and letter has not brought fruit in the form of payment, then it is worth considering the following simple tip.

Get a friend who is not connected with your business directly to phone up the company or individual who owns the money.

They should be polite and factual, and simply state that they are phoning on behalf of you or your company, with regard the debt that is owed. State calmly that they are late paying, and you are expecting the debt to be paid back within a week or 14 days.

There is no need to be unpleasant or make any sort of threats to pay up at all - this tip will make the person who owes money think that maybe the debt has been sold onto you or that this is a real possibility, and in a good percentage of cases you will receive your money shortly after that phone call is made.
