How To Check For Dog Obesity

Pets : Dogs

Being overweight can be very dangerous for pets and can make them more prone to all sorts of nasty health complications.

Therefore it is important that your pet does not get too overweight.

A good weight for a dog is normally where you can feel the ribs of your dog with ease, but they aren't visible to the eye easily - if they are visible this is a sign with most breeds that they need more food not less!

If the hips of your dog are more than a little fleshy then they may be overweight.

The best way to help your dog maintain a healthy weight is to ensure that he or she gets the amount of exercise required. Of course this varies greatly from breed to breed, some have lots of energy that they need to dissipate through exercise.

In in doubt consult your vet.
