| Business : Running Your Business It is a sad fact that some people blow up their CV a little bit out of proportion, beyond the boundaries of over exaggeration into straight lying. If you hire someone who does then you are almost certainly going to be disappointed for the simple reason that you are hiring them under false pretences, thinking that they have accomplished now, or in the near past, things that they just haven't done. Therefore you should always ensure to check on interview candidates. As a minimum, be sure to check the referees given and speak to them, too. Also be sure to ask candidates to interview to bring along relevant certificates to prove that they do indeed have the qualifications that they say they have - whether it is a degree from university X, or that prestigious project management qualification that you said was highly desirable for the post you are advertising for. This way you should have the safety level that you are only dealing with genuine people and really can judge them on a level playing field.
