How To Choose A Domain Name For Good Search Performance

Computing : Search Engine Optimisation

Many people believe that the physical domain name that your site uses will have a bearing on your search engine ranking.

Therefore if you are buying a new site, consider including keywords in the URL.

Let's say for example that you are creating a new photography site. Rather than name it after yourself - joeblogswebsite or equivalent, try and get the keyword in the URL - e.g. joesphotography for example.

This is believed to then perform better for searches with the word photography in them as the URL is a reliable indicator to the content of a website and is much less easy to manipulate than some other elements of the page.
