How To Choose A Fish

Pets : Fish

Fish are good pets to keep if you are away from home a lot and do not have the time to own a high maintenance pet like a dog or something that requires a lot of attention.

The first thing to do is talk to somebody at a pet shop if this is your first time owning fish, as they will be able to advise on what is the right kind for you. They can also tell you all the supplies you will need, such as an aquarium, plants, heaters and so on.

The tank is very important, you cannot just choose any one and so you need advice, as the wrong kind of environment for a fish can have bad consequences for the health of that fish.

You can tell a lot about the health of a fish just by looking at it so always avoid ones that seem unhealthy. A fish that looks bloated is a sign of disease, and you should also steer clear of fish with split fins or fins that are tight against their bodies.

You also want your fish to swim around as this can be nice to look at, so don't choose ones that are near the bottom of the tank not moving much, or ones hiding in the corners.

If a fish has just arrived in a pet shop then you should actually avoid buying it as at this time the are most vulnerable and could more likely die than at other times.

Good advice. You should also research about a certain type of fish, because some can tend to be aggresive or fight as well. Keep up the good work.
