How To Choose A Password

Money : EBay

Whenever you use any online service, you should ensure that you choose a good password.

But what exactly makes a good password?

Well the question is sometimes best answered by first looking at what makes a bad password.

A bad password tends to be:
- short (6 or less letters)
- a real word (e.g. friend)
- something personal and related to you: for instance your name, or that of someone close to you

These are bad because if someone wants to get into your account they are likely to choose real words first. This is because most people have bad passwords - simply because they are easier to remember!

A good password is:
- long: 8 or more characters
- contains a combination of letters and numbers
- is not a real word
- contains a mix of capitalisation and lowercase

Essentially, the more nonsensical and random looking the password is, the much better the password is. The key is that you must remember it!
