How To Choose Between A Desktop PC And A Laptop

Business : Starting Up In Business

When making the decision to buy a PC or a laptop, there are a few things you should consider before you part with your cash. You have to look at the benefits of each and see which one matches your needs best.

If you travel frequently on business and need to take your computer with you, then a laptop is the best choice for you due to the ease of portability. This also helps if a lack of space is a primary concern, as they obviously take up less desk space than a PC. However, if it is only lack of space making you think that a laptop is the best choice, then perhaps you could consider buying one of the newer models of PC which come with a flat-screen monitor.

You get similar uses from a PC and a laptop but you are paying the same or close to the same amounts of money. Another problem with a laptop is that they are more likely to incur faults than a desktop computer, and so may result in expensive repairs.

If you are looking to use your computer with graphics packages, or to play games then a desktop model is probably the best option, as a laptop has got quite a low resolution screen. But there are different types of screen and when you purchase you can receive advice on this aspect.

When you buy a laptop it is far more likely to have a better resale price than the desktop PC, but many people say a laptop cannot be classed as an alternative to a desktop PC, but can be a good supplement to it. But if you do decide to buy the laptop, you must consider the amount of RAM, the speed of the processor, and also what software is already installed and what you will need. Weight of the model is also an important factor as a bigger screen will add to the weight, so test a few out and think about how far and how often you will want to transport it around.
