How To Cold Call
Business : Running Your Business When you start off in business, you may need to cold call a few companies to get the first piece of work. Whilst you may be turned off against it as a methodology, the bottom line is that it is still practiced because it does work, to a greater or lesser extent. What you need to do is ensure you sense the mood straight away - if the person sounds cold or switched off then no amount of persuasion is likely to help. Speak softly but audibly and smile whilst you speak. Bottom line: you need to build an instance rapport with the person or they won't feel guilty simply putting the phone down on you straight off.
