How To Conduct An Interview

Career : Career Techniques

If you are interviewing, then there are several things that you need to do up front. One is preparation into the person being interviewed - their CV, and so on, to pick out relevant areas that you want to discuss in more detail in the interview.

With regard asking questions, there are five key words that you will find most useful in an interview, and whatever question you ask they can be adapted to elicit more information.

At times, some of these words will be more relevant than others, but always have them in the back of your mind.

They are: who, what, when, how and why.

If you want more information on a subject, try to lead in with whichever of these words is most relevant. Emphasise the word if you like and start the sentence with it just to lead the candidate into giving you the reasons that match your specific question.
