Confronting Fears With Mental Exercise

Self Development : Confidence

There are some mental exercises you can do to confront and overcome your fears.

One method often advocated is the following.

Get some quiet time where you won't be disturbed, and lie either on the sofa or the bed and close your eyes.

Then play a video in your head of one of your fears. Play it through again, but this time rewind after the fear and mentally erase that fear and part of the tape from your mind.

Then play the situation back again, and see if it has been erased. If not, then repeat the process, until as it were the mental video tape of that fear is gone and clean.

It may sound silly, but with focus, belief and concentration and actually trying this you can find it works wonders for you. Try it - take action - don't just read and think 'that's stupid it won't work'. As the wise old adage says - you don't know until you try!
